Recently I have been trying to play NMS VR but, the performance is absolutely shocking. I use virtual desktop + Oculus Quest 2. When running NMS on a normal desktop, I can run the game at 90 fps, maximum graphics (GTX1650/16GB RAM) and it is very very smooth. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS and edit TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.VR.MXML and TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.mxml and set numhighthreads 4 and numlowthreads 2. Big improvement on the cpu side. Try 2 and 1 if you have a quad core.

Yeah, it is a badly optimazed game, I also had to lower a lots of settings with a 5600x and a 3080. The Steam VR test is really old. It's designed for headsets from 2016. Headsets now are much higher resolution and the Steam VR test is basically useless. No Man's Sky VR is just a horrible unoptimized mess.
It's not infinite, it's just taking forever for some reason. It's taking me like 5+ minutes to load anywhere, whether starting the game or teleporting to a new system, but once I'm in, it feels normal. The only thing I've noticed in-game were some animals that were invisible for a bit until they popped in.

Have not tried No Man's Sky but if you have trouble with VR generally, the issue might not be your card. No I actually can run games just fine. It's just No Man's Sky. The game is still very, very demanding. I have a 3080 and I can run it on High w/ an acceptable framerate. Your 2060 isn’t going to cut it I’m afraid.
